Wayne Pinnock is also a very successful sprint hurdler.

Former Jamaica junior star jumper Wayne Pinnock is moving to the University of Tennessee this summer.

Pinnock, who won long jump bronze for Jamaica at the Tampere 2018 World U20 Championships, signed a track and field scholarship with University of Tennessee earlier this week.

“Welcome to #RockyTop, Wayne Pinnock,” was how the school’s track and field twitter page described the signing.

Pinnock is also a very successful sprint hurdler. He beat Dejour Russell and his Champs Class 1 record, which he left at 13.06s in 2019.

The KC hero has a personal best of 8.05m. He jumped a wind-assisted (3.9m/s) 8.14m. He is also the 4th best all-time in the 110m hurdles.

    • I have always been proud of your sprinting talent. Lost track of you for a bit after HS, but great to see and hear you are on the rock. Do your thing, fans for life in all your pursuits. I envision you doing a scintillating 3rd leg in a 4 x 100 m in an Olympic and fully blooming in the 100 M finals…straight GOLD!!

    • Look out for those (2) young jumpers from Bloomfield, Connecticut by the name of Steel/??, but they are dubbed America’s greatest talents in long and triple jump. Young Steel has Jamaican parents too! Mr. W. Pinnock, I dub you the favorite to take the titles and be the next T. Gayle in the international arena,
