CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Wayde van Niekerk is unlikely to race this season as he continues his rehabilitation and recovery from knee surgery, informs Sport 24.

“Wayde will probably not compete at all this year. When he comes back he wants to be ready and that means we are not running anywhere this year now. It will probably be 2019,” said his manager Peet van Zyl.

Allyson Felix for Meeting de Marseille

Brianna McNeal target Diamond League trophy

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Olympic champion Brianna McNeal is aiming to win the Diamond League this year in order to guarantee herself a spot on the American team for the 2019 World Championships.

“The IAAF Diamond League is very important to me this year with the Americans not having a major championship. so I want to win the Diamond League series so I can get a bye to compete for the US team at the IAAF World Championships in Doha next year,” she said. She will next compete in Budapest and then in Rabat.

Kevin Borlee to return to competition

BRUSSELS (BEL): Kevin Borlee is expected to return to competition at the Belgian Championships in Brussels on 7-8 July, informs sport.be.

He has until 29 July to achieve the 400m qualifying time of 45.89. Borlee is currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

CHEBOKSARY (RUS): After clocked personal best of 1:17;24 over 20km race walk at the Russian nationals in Cheboksary, London world silver medallist Sergey Shirobokov said, that he planned result under 1:18.

“I even could be a little bit faster, but not everything worked out. In one direction the wind was too strong,” Shirobokov told Sport-Express.
