Wayde Van Niekerk returns with victory

PRETORIA, South Africa – World 400m record holder Wayde Van Niekerk stood out on the final day of the South African Championships.

Van Niekerk, who ran 43.03 for the world record on his way to winning the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, clocked 20.38 (+0.1m/s wind) to be crown national 200m champion.

His 200m personal best is 19.84.

Justine Palframan topped women in 23.64.

Tshepo Tshite clocked good quality 1:45.79 in the 800m. In the 400m hurdles, the titles went to Leroux Hamman 49.70 and Wenda Nel 55.60.

Zakithi Nene topped the 400m in 45.54. Rushwahl Samaai leapt to 8.16m (+1.1m/s wind) in the long jump ahead of Jovan van Vuuren 802 (+1.4m/s).

Precious Mashele clocked at an altitude good 13:42.31 in the 5000m.

In the shot put, duel Kyle Blignaut, with 20.82m, beat Jason Van Rooyen 20.60m.
