The IOC has until the end of May to decide whether or not the Tokyo Olympics will go ahead in the light of the coronavirus crisis, says former president Dick Pound.

“You could certainly go to two months out if you had to,” Pound, who is still an IOC member, was quoted as saying.

“A lot of things have to start happening. You’ve got to start ramping up your security, your food, the Olympic Village, the hotels, The media folks will be in there building their studios,” he was quoted by AP.

He added that if Tokyo can not host the event, cancellation rather than relocation or postponement will be the likely option.
