Elaine Thompson leads women's 100m field at Jamaica Invitational

SHANGHAI, China – Shanghai Diamond League meeting on Saturday on 13 May is offering top sprint clashes.

Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson, returns to China for the first time since winning a silver medal over 200m at the Beijing 2015 World Championships and will face Americans Torie Bowie and Tianna Bartoletta, along with Ivorian Marie-Josee Ta Lou.

Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jamaica’s back-to-back 200m champion in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, along with Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye will add more speed to the super field.

In men 200m, Jamaican Julian Forte once again faces a big field, which includes Britain’s 2014 European Champion, Adam Gemili, Netherland’s European 100m gold medallist, Churandy Martina, USA’s former world and Olympic 400m champion LaShawn Merritt and Panama’s former world silver medallist Alonso Edward.

Two former world champions will meet in the men’s 100m, a non-Diamond League event, when Kim Collins and Justin Gatlin go head-to-head.
