Jamaica’s Doha 2019 World Championships silver medallist Danniel Thomas-Dodd was a winner at Saturday’s (22 Jan) Hokie Invitational.

Thomas-Dodd won the women’s shot put with a throw of 18.59m. She beat Latavia Maines of Tennessee who threw 16.18m.

Two other Jamaicans, Fiona Richards, formerly of Edwin Allen, and Danielle Sloley, who represented Immaculate, also took part in the event.

Richards recorded 14.13m for 4th and Sloley, 13.45m for 6th.

Former Holmwood athlete Nicolee Foster ran 55.38 seconds for 2nd in women’s 400m, won by Britton Wilson of Tennessee, 55.17.
Andrenette Knight, formerly of Vere, was 7th in the event with 57.18.

Former St. Jago sprinter Kayla Bonnick, representing Virginia, ran 24.72 for third in the women’s 200m. Halle Hazzard of Virginia won the event in 24.04.

Carey McLeod of Tennessee, 6.78 finished third in the men’s 60m, won by Sterling Warner of Louisville, 6.69.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Joella Lloyd, representing Tennessee, ran 7.36 to finish second behind Halle Hazzard or Virginia in the women’s 60m dash.
Bonnick ran 7.51 for 5th in the event.

Jamaicans Zico Campbell, 17.66m and Roje Stona, 17.24m were third and 6th respectively.

Jordan West of Tennessee topped the men’s shot put with 19.69m. Tyson Jones of Wake Forest finished second with 19.15m.

Tony Jones of Wake Forest cleared 2.14m to take the men’s high jump ahead of Cayden Spencer-Thompson of Louisville, 2.11m.

Anna Keefer of North Carolina took the top spot in the women’s long jump with 6.38m.
Ezra Mellinger, representing Duke, leapt 7.63m to take the men’s long jump.
