FREEPORT, BAHAMAS – On Friday, Texas A&M’s men’s and women’s track and field teams made a strong showing at the Island Relays Bahamas Invitational held at the Grand Bahamas Sports Complex, claiming three victories on day one.

The women’s javelin saw a 1-2 finish for the Aggies, with Katelyn Fairchild winning with a 175-2/53.40m throw and Lianna Davidson securing second place with a 171-5/52.25m throw. The men’s javelin saw Sam Hankins claim victory with a personal best of 231-7/70.59m, while Julian Stoicoviciu earned bronze with a 180-3/54.93m throw.

Alessio Pirruccio rounded off the day’s field events by placing third in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 180-3/54.93m.

In the running events, Jania Martin emerged victorious in the women’s 400m, clocking a personal best of 52.56, while Sanu Jallow took fourth place with a time of 53.35. In the men’s 400m, Christian Rosales placed fifth with a time of 48.11, and Sam Presnal followed in sixth, setting a new personal best of 48.62.

Jaiya Covington and Joniar Thomas became the two fastest qualifiers for the women’s 100m hurdles final, finishing second and third with times of 13.61 and 14.09, respectively. The final is scheduled for Saturday at 1:45 p.m.

Camryn Dickson posted the fastest time in the women’s 100m at 11.64, advancing to Saturday’s final at 2:00 p.m. In the men’s 100m, Blake Harris led the Aggies, finishing 10th with a time of 10.83, while Connor Schulman closely followed in 11th with a time of 10.84.

Jermaisha Arnold set a new personal best of 23.38, finishing second in the women’s 200m, while Tierra Robinson-Jones placed sixth with a time of 23.78. To conclude the day, Jordan Chopane achieved a personal best time of 21.02 in the men’s 200m, securing second place. Ashton Schwartzman, Omajuwa Etiwe, De Marco Escobar, and Connor Schulman also broke the 22-second mark, with times of 21.75, 21.78, 21.80, and 21.90, respectively.

Saturday’s events kick off with the women’s 3000m at 9:00 a.m. and the men’s race at 9:30 a.m. Field events start at 10:00 a.m., featuring the women’s shot put, women’s pole vault, and women’s triple jump, with a rolling schedule to finish before running events begin at 1:15 p.m.
