Three of the world’s fastest 200m women – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Gabby Thomas – are set for a massive showdown Herculis Diamond League on 9 July.

Jamaica’s world 100m champion Fraser-Pryce was on fire at the Jamaica Olympic Trials, winning the sprint double in 10.71 and 21.79. It was the first time Fraser-Pryce was breaking 22 seconds.

Bahamian reigning Olympic 400m champion Miller-Uibo, ranked No. 8 globally with a season’s best of 22.03s, is a tough competitor. She opted against defending her title at Toyko Olympic Games for the 200m.

She has a personal best of 21.74s from 2019. Miller-Uibo has gone under 22-seconds four times already in her career.

Thomas, the 2021 U.S. Olympic trials winner, is currently the fastest woman 200m runner alive. She ran a stunning 21.61 to win the event in Eugene. Her time, however, is the second-fastest, according to the World Athletics website, only behind world record holder Florence Griffith-Joyner with 21.34.

Meanwhile, 2013 world bronze medallist Okagbare of Nigeria is also down to run. She has a career-best of 22.04s in the event, set in 2018.

Dina Asher-Smith, Elaine Thompson and Shericka Jackson are the other big names missing. Jackson ran a personal best 21.82 at the Jamaican Olympic Trials while Thompson-Herah, the Rio Olympic sprint double champion, crossed the line in 22.02. Asher-Smith is the world 200m champion.

    • JA Vaughn R. Miller Anyone who win this event is still not guaranteed to win the Olympics. Are you forgetting DAS beat Shelly in the 100 Diamond League Final, and Shelly won the 2019 World Championships. I am glad she is running against her. She will learn what she needs to work on for Tokyo.

    • Francis Yaw Asare Bediako Shelly needs to be race fit so the more she competes it’s better for her. What needs money you talking about do you really know who Shelly really is and are you saying all mothers are the poorer class of people
