Trinidad and Tobago’s Akeem Stewart saved his best throw for last. The throw was 57.32 metres, which came in the sixth round, gave him gold in the Men’s F42/43/44 Javelin finals on the second day of athletics at the Rio 2016 Parlympic Games.

His winning mark is also a world record in the F43 class, improving on the 57.23m set in the first round.

Alister McQueen (CAN) 55.56 was second and Roy McSweeney (NZL), third 54.99.

Stewart’s first (57.23m), second (56.64m), third (56.84m) and fifth (55.77m) throws were also enough to win gold and further than the previous F43 record of 54.77 set by Stewart in the 2015 Parlympics Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
