St. Jago and Edwin Allen retained their Central Champs titles after two days of exciting action at GC Foster College on Wednesday (16 Mar).

St. Jago boys ended the two-day championships with 404.5 points ahead of Edwin Allen 175 and Clarendon College 120. St. Catherine 98 and Manchester 83 rounded off the top five teams.

Edwin Allen girls got home with 375.2 points ahead of Hydel 305.6, St. Jago 274.6, Holmwood 220 and St. Catherine 197.5.

Kerrica Hill of Hydel was impressive in setting a new Class 2 girls’ 100m hurdles record of 13.21. She won by a wide margin ahead of her teammate Shania Myers, 13.69.
Hill added the 200m title in 23.57. She won ahead of her teammate Alliah Baker, 24.33.

Omarion Barrett of Steer Town Academy completed the Class 2 boys’ sprint double with a comfortable 21.81 victory in the 200m. He took the 100m on Tuesday in 10.83.

Edwin Allen’s Christopher Young put the shot 18.77 meters for a new Class 1 boy’s record. Young also threw 61.70m for a new javelin open record.

Asia McKay of Edwin Allen cleared a record height of 1.70m to win the Class 3 girls’ high jump.

Patrick Brown equalled the Class 3 boys high jump record of 1.65m

Hydel’s Rickeisha Simms was also in record-breaking form, running 4:38.53 to win the Class 2 girls’ 1500m.

Calvin Israel of St. Jago won the Class 2 boys’ long jump with a record 6.92m.

Bryan Levell of Edwin Allen ran relaxed to take the top spot in the Class 1 boys’ 200m in 20.71 ahead of Sandrey Davison of St. Catherine, 21.30.

Holmwood ran 3:41.81 to beat Edwin Allen 3:41.82 in the girls’ 4x400m while Manchester 3:17.41 to beat St. Jago 3:18.32.
