Jackson, in semi-final 1, was in sparkling form. She dropped a massive personal best of 10.77. Jackson, who trailed in the early stages, pulled away about 50 meters out to beat Briana Williams, 11.02 and Kemba Nelson, 11.05.

Like her MVP teammate Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah trailed in her semi-final but used her top-end speed to move by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce about 30 meters out.

Thompson-Herah eased down across the finish line in 10.82, beating Fraser-Pryce, 10.84. Natasha Morrison finished third in 11.03.

Remona Burchell, 11.15 and Ashanti Moore, 11.19, are the non-automatic qualifiers.

In the men’s 100m, Yohan Blake 9.98, Tracey 10.04 and Seville 10.10 were the top three from semi-final 1. Julian Forte 10.03 beat Nigel Ellis, 10.14 in the second semi-final.

Jevaughn Minzie, 10.18, took the next automatic qualifying spot.

Oshane Bailey, 10.18, and Bryan Levell, 10.27, are also in the final.

Christopher Taylor, 45.99, Demish Gaye, 46.08 and Sean Bailey, 46.26 are the top three men’s 400m semi-final qualifiers.

  3. This is one determine young woman. I remember her running down a Canadian high school girl in a relay at Gibson relays several years ago. The young lady from Canada had showboating the heats and Sherika was not having it. She caught her on the line. It was said that she was immediately taken in for a drug test as a result of her magnificent performance.
