NEW YORK, USA – Several Jamaicans were winners at different indoor track and field meets across the United States.

At the HBCU Battle in New York, Jamaican Rayon Lawrence ran 48.17 in the men’s 400m.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Aaron Lewis, representing Coppin State, ran 7.88s to win the men’s 60m hurdles ahead of Juan Scott of Central State, 8.00s.

Over at the Friday Night Duals in Flagstaff, Jermaine Brown clocked 6.66 and Antonio Mitchell 6.70 in the men’s 60m.

Kassondra Hall topped the women’s 60m in 7.31s while Danielle Beattie won the 60m hurdles in 8.34s.

Jamaican Waseem Williams ran 6.74 in the prelims and 6.69 in the semis of the men’s 60m at the Gene Edmonds Memorial Invitational over the weekend (Jan 10 and 11) inside Lambert Fieldhouse.

Williams, a junior at Purdue University, returned to win the final in 6.75s ahead of Sterling Warner of Louisville, 6.77s.

Jamaica’s 2016 World U20 110m hurdles champion Damion Thomas, who ran 7.98 to qualify, returned with 7.79s in the men’s 60m hurdles final at the Purple Tiger Invitational in Baton Rouge. Eric Edwards was a bit faster with 7.75s.

Mikiah Brisco was the women’s 60m winner on the day with 7.16s. Aleia Hobbs was next best with 7.27s.

Lolo Jones is making a comeback with 8.43 in the women’s 60m hurdles. She was the fifth-fastest qualifier but skipped the final, which saw Brittley Humphrey recording the fastest time of 8.19s.
