BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M had a pair of cross country athletes earn SEC Runner of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Sophomores Haley Deakins and Ryan Teel were selected for the women’s and men’s honors, respectively, based on their performance during the Houston Baptist Invitational this past weekend.

Teel, who bettered the field by 11 seconds, won the men’s individual title as the Aggies defended their team title with a score of 35 points. Deakins led the A&M women with a fifth-place finish as the Aggies scored 35 points in placing second to match their finish from last season in the HBU Invite.

Texas A&M travels to Madison, Wisconsin for the sixth annual adidas Invitational hosted on Friday, Oct. 17, by the University of Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championship course. One of the nation’s premier collegiate meets, half of the men’s and women’s fields of 40 teams include squads ranked among the top 30 nationally with six of the top 10 schools in the nation featured in each race.
