Less than a week after becoming Saint Lucia’s first qualifier for the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, Jeannelle Scheper has been honoured again.

The University of South Carolina Gamecock senior was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in the past three weeks.

Scheper, who turns 21 this year, earned the US collegiate lead in women’s high jump last Friday, with a school record and World Championships qualifying 1.95m at the Florida Relays. It is the second best height in the world for the season.

Nationally, Scheper was acknowledged as an honorable mention for the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week, an award she earned previously in March.

Jeannelle was outdone only by Alabama’s Remona Burchell, who ran the fastest wind-adjusted time in NCAA history for the 100m at Gainesville.
