Omar McLeod

Olympic Games 110m hurdles champion Omar McLeod reacted to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 event.

Tokyo 2020, like several other events globally, has been postponed and cancelled because of the deadly coronavirus, which has killed over 22,000.

Several athletes are unable to train due to the containment measures in their country.

“This is obviously bigger than us, so let’s take a few steps back, PRAY, reflect, reevaluate, and then move forward,” he wrote on his social media page. He added “#Tokyo2021; we’ll be ready for ya!”

McLeod ran 13.05 to beat Orlando Ortega of Spain 13.17 and Dimitri Bascou of France 13.24 to win the men’s 110m hurdles at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

With all thats happening worldwide, I really do hope that we all can finally realize just how blessed we truly are and how much we took things for granted,” McLeod.

McLeod is the most successful Jamaican sprint hurdler ever. He is also the London 2017 world champion. Mcleod also won the World Indoor title in 2016.
