Noah Lyles wins Diamond League sprint double
Noah Lyles, the day before Brussels Diamond League, was coy about what sort of time he would produce in tonight's 200m, although he did say he wanted a PB

Noah Lyles, who for at least minutes believed he had broken Usain Bolt’s world 200m record, is down to take another shot at it soon.

Lyles, at July’s 9 Weltklasse Zurich Inspiration Games, stopped the clock in 18.90 seconds, only to find out later he ran 15 metres short of 200m. Bolt’s record is 19.19s.

The next stop for the American will be at the Herculis EBS meeting on 14 August.

Again, Lyles, the world 200m champion, will headline the men’s half-lap event.

British Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the world champion in the heptathlon, will compete in the high jump, her best individual discipline.

Kenyan Hellen Obiri, the world champion in the 5000m, will race over that distance in the Principality.

Conseslus Kipruto of Kenya, the world and Olympic champion in the 3000m steeplechase, will headline that event, always a popular fixture in Monaco.

Another middle-distance star announced is Halimah Nakaayi of Uganda, the surprise 800m champion in Doha last year.

Others on the slate include world pole vault record-holder Armand Duplantis; Laura Muir of Great Britain, who will race over 1000m; and Germany’s Konstanze Klosterhalfen, the European indoor 5000m record-holder.

All three of Norway’s Ingebrigtsen brothers, Henrik, Filip and Jakob, are also on the slate. It wasn’t immediately announced which distance they would race.

The men’s programme includes both the 1500m and 5000m.

    • Jorge Flash Vazquez even lower 9.58 is no ez run.. Just use your stop watch and try and see how fast bolt was going.. There just booting lyles because he shows real talent..look at gatlin same thing and am sure he never broke none of bolts record but it’s just how competitive and determined he is

    • Peta Flemmings being quarantined is killing everyone and making them crazy and stupid. People getting into Entanglement 😂

  1. He got at least run close to the record before we can take him seriously, 19:19 is so for away from the times he is running, I really don’t see anyone breaking this record for the next 20 years

  2. What i dont understand American men had 100m record for years and didnt bother. Jamaican But as we have the record its a big PROBLEM(BAD MIND?)

  3. Wonder if some people know that record breaking just don’t come like that..bolt took years to reach were he was a a guy just get up a say he wants to break it?.. Put in the work bro success don’t come overnight work for it!!

  4. Bolt smashed the record after rounds and rounds of competition 🔥 Considering that – He would’ve ran sub 19 or close on perfect conditions during a one off race, if he was in good shape. I don’t believe we seen bolt’s best “one off perfect-race” on the track, which is crazy to think of

  5. One thing I love about Bolt. He wasnt going around talking about how we wants to break this record and that record. He just went for it. The only time he really spoke about it was when he already had the record. Noah is making himself look bad. Just go out there and run, and if a world record comes, it comes. I mean, it wont, but at least your legacy wont be the man who tried yr after yr to break a record and never did.

  6. Track Alert can hype too much i wonder wen his Bolt Record is going to go and it is not any tracks going on only some stupid Develop meats going on too much hyping about breaking Blot Record….kmt.
