Natoya Goule set a new Jamaican indoor 800-meter record at Thursday’s (17 Feb 2022) Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais in Liévin, France.

Natoya Goule, who held the previous record of 1:59.13 seconds, ran 1:58.46 to lower the old mark. She was challenged by Ugandan Halimah Nakaayi, who crossed the line in 1:58.58. Kenyan Eglay Nafuna Nalyanya finished third in 2:00.26.

On her way to what is the fastest time in the world this, year, Natoya Goule went through 600 meters in 1:27.64 seconds.
She tweeted after the race: “Another satisfying performance; who could it be but God?”

Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas took third place in the women’s 60-meter hurdles. Her time of 8.11 seconds placed her behind Laeticia Bapte of France (8.00) and Reetta Hurske of Finland, who clocked 8.06 seconds. Charlton ran 8.04 in the heat.

World 110-meter hurdles champion Grant Holloway extended his winning streak from 2014, winning the men’s 60-meter hurdles in 7.35 seconds. Earlier, he ran his heat in 7.40 seconds. France’s Pascal Martinot-Lagarde finished second in a season’s best 7.46 seconds, while world indoor silver medallist Jarret Eaton was third in 7.51.

Akela Jones of Barbados leapt 6.54 meters in the women’s long jump. Venezuelan Olympic triple-jump champion Yulimar Rojas won the event in 6.81 meters.

    • Malcolm Glasgow, it’s going to be an event to watch. GB Kelly Hodgkinson won in the fastest time by a junior in years. Not an U20 WR because she turns 20 this year. Also the Australian Catriona Bisset set a new Australian indoor record when she beat Natoya in the same event. Comm Games and WC both will be great.
