Natasha Morrison was on fire, dropping the year’s second-fastest women’s 100m time at Saturday’s (24 April) TRUFit Meet in Miami, Florida.

Morrison sizzled to an impressive personal best of 10.87 to win the women’s 100m. She is now the second-fastest woman this year behind American Sha’Carri Richardson, who ran 10.72 two weeks ago.

Morrison’s previous personal best was 10.96, done at the Beijing 2015 World Championships.

Earlier in the heats, Morrison, who trains with MVP, ran 10.98.

Tynia Gaither wins 200m

Bahamian Tynia Gaither, who ran 11.02 for second in the 100m final, returned to take the 200m in 22.70. She won ahead of Srabani Nanda of India, 23.37 and Jamaican Jodean Williams, 23.59.

Jamaican Julian Forte, who entered the final of the men’s 100m with the fastest time of 10.14, returned with 10.03 for third.

American Fred Kerley broke 10 seconds for the first time to win in 9.91 ahead of compatriot Joshua Washington, also a personal best 10.01.

Jamaicans Nigel Ellis, 10.04 and Michael Stephens 10.12 finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Three Jamaicans win

Orlando Bennett, 13.32 and Roland Levy, 13.39, took the top two spots in the men’s 110m hurdles.

Jamaicans Janieve Russell, 52.12 and Tiffany James, 52.67, were also 1-2 in the women’s 400m.

Nathon Allen topped the men’s 400m in 46.02 ahead of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Warren Hazel, 46.22.

Shermaine Williams ran 13.67 for third in the women’s 100m hurdles. Ebony Morrison won the event in 13.00s.

Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain won the men’s 200m with a time of 19.93. Washington finished second in 20.60 and Delano Williams third in 20.72.

Hazel, 20.79 and Guyanese Winston George, third in 21.02, were also in the men’s 200m.

  1. It is a very good look when other jamaican female sprinters step it up and produce sub 11 seconds clockings. Keep putting in the work in practice. All need to step it up.
