Shaunae Miller-Uibo continued her impressive form this season with another scintillating run at Saturday’s (24 April) Oregon Relays.

Miller-Uibo, who was among the first set of athletes to test the new track and stadium facility, dropped 49.08 seconds, the fastest 400m in the world this year. The time also beat Sanya Richards-Ross’ facility record of 49.29.

The Bahamian Olympic Games champion is also the women’s 200m world leader with 22.03.

“We’ve been working on getting our strength up, and now that we are in the middle of the season,” said Miller-Uibo, who said the 400m is her favourite event.
“We are going to work on speed and getting ready to put down some great performances in the 200s,” she added.

Americans Lynna Irby, 50.28 and Jessica Beard, 50.38, were the runners-up.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards topped the men’s 200m with a time of 20.26s. He won ahead of American Josephus Lyles, 20.46.

Jamaicans Christopher Taylor finished third in 20.73 and Senoj-Jay Givans sixth in 21.05.

Holland Martin of Bahamas leapt 7.68m for second behind American Marquis Dendy 7.98m in the men’s long jump.

In the women’s triple jump, Kimberly Williams recorded 13.93m to finish behind Tori Franklin of the USA, 14.10m.

Kemba Nelson, 11.22 for fifth and Christania Williams, who pulled up and limped across the line ninth in 26.21, were the Jamaicans in the final.

Earlier, Nelson ran 11.08 in the heats. Blessing Okagbare was the fastest from the heats with 11.01.
Christania Williams booked her final spot in 11.28.

Briana Williams did not make the final with her 11.29 done in a +2.4m/s wind.
Allyson Felix ran 11.30 for seventh place.

All three Jamaicans, Tyquendo Tracey, 10.46, Jermaine Brown, 10.61 and Andre Ewers, 10.63, failed to make the men’s 100m final.
The final saw Trayvon Bromell running 10.01 to beat Noah Lyes, 10.17.

Brittany Anderson’s season-best of 12.82 placed her behind Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, 12.46 in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Rushelle Burton, the other Jamaican in the event, finished ninth in 13.79.

Clive Pulled hop-skip-jump 16.55m to finish behind American Donald Scott, 16.89m in the men’s triple jump. American star Christian Taylor was third with 16.52m.

Danniel Thomas-Dodd threw 18.46m to finish behind Chase Earley of USA, 18.93m in the women’s shot put.

Americans Micheal Norman and Rai Benjamin continued to run fast. They took the top two spots in the men’s 400m, with Norman crossing the line in 44.67 and Benjamin 44.98.
