Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo has arrived in Belgrade, Serbia for the World Indoor Championships. “We just got in today, and so far, I feel pretty good,” the Bahamian star said.

“I came out just to get a shake-out and just get ready for the champs,” the Olympic Games 400m champion added. Miller-Uibo, who has personal-best times of 50.21 seconds indoors and 48.36 outdoors, will face-off with Femke Bol in a two-lap battle.

“For me, this one is just a chance to see where we’re at with training. That said, it’s the first one of the year, and it’s a World Championships, so I definitely have to be ready. But it’s partly just to have a bit of fun,” she continued.

Miller-Uibo has won back-to-back Olympic Games 400m titles in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

“The main goal this season is to be ready to defend my title at the World [Outdoor] Championships in Oregon, and this is about working towards that goal. After that, cross fingers, I’ll do the Commonwealth Games as well.”
