Shaunae Miller-Uibo has joined an illustrious list of sprinters with impressive times over distances up to one lap.

The Bahamian superstar broke 11 seconds for the first time on Friday night at the Back to the Track Series at Clermont National Training Center in Florida.

She became the fourth female athlete in history to run sub-11 in 100, sub-22 in 200 and sub-49 in 400.

Friday’s performance, 10.98 seconds, put her alongside Germany’s Marita Koch, France’s Marie-Jose Perec and American Valerie Brisco-Hooks to achieve the feat.

“Mission accomplished. That was my goal today – sub 11,” Miller-Uibo was quoted as saying.

Miller-Uibo, who is the Bahamian record holder over 200m (21.74) and 400m (48.37), is someway off her national 100m record 10.84 set in 2005 by Chandra Sturrup.
Her 400m time, done for silver at last year’s Doha 2019 World Championships, is a North American and Caribbean record. She also ran 34.41, also of Area Record, for the 300m dash.

“Shaunae is a super-talented athlete, and when you run against someone of her calibre, you have to bring your ‘A’ game.”

Nickel Ashmeade, who ran in race two, finished fifth overall with 10.16.
