The women’s 200m and 400m are expected to steal the spotlight at the Bahamas National Championships this weekend.

Young stars Shaunae Miller and Anthonique Strachan will clash in the 200m, with the former starting as favourite after her national record 22.14 seconds in Kingston, Jamaica.

The men’s 400m, as always, is expected to be a thriller, featuring veteran Chris Brown and Steven Gardiner, a new sensation this season. However, it is possible that Brown may skip the quarter-mile and line up in the 200m. If he does, he may face Michael Mathieu, also a 400m runner, in the half-lap race.

No one should however forget, NCAA semi-finallist Shavez Hart, the country’s fastest 200m runner this year.

The men’s triple jump will also be a strong event with 21-year-old Latario Collie-Minns challenging national record holder Leevan Sands.
