Omar McLeod was the only Jamaica winner at the third leg of the American Track League Series on Sunday (7 Feb) in Arkansas, USA.

Though the times were close, McLeod looked easy in crossing the line in 7.53 seconds to American Michael Dickson, 7.58.

Ruebin Walters of Trinidad and Tobago ran an excellent race to finish third in 7.68, the same time as American Trevor Bassitt whose time was a personal best.

Brittany Anderson, however, on was top of her game with another personal best performance. She ran 7.97 seconds to finish second behind Tiffany Porter of Great Britain with 7.95.

Earlier in the heats, Anderson broke eight seconds for the first time when she crossed the line in 7.96 seconds behind Tiffany Porter of Great Britain, 7.95.

Anderson, then beat her previous best of 8.02 done in New York in February 2020.

Russell Burton, the other Jamaican entrance in the final, ran 8.20 for fourth place. Gabbi Cunningham finished third in 8.08.

Jenna Prandini of USA topped the women’s 200m dash in 22.55 ahead of her compatriot Quanera Hayes, 22.70 and Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria, 23.01.

Earlier, Okagbare ran 7.10 to beat Jamaican Christania Williams, who equalled her personal best of 7.14secs in the women’s 60m dash.

Jamaica’s World U20 medallist athlete Shiann Salmon produced a personal best effort to stay close to American Shamier Little in the women’s 400m.

In the end, Salmon’s best of 52.85 placed her second behind Little, 51.33, also a personal best.
Salmon beat her previous best of 53.74 done in Texas this same time last year. Hurdler Little career-best mark before today was 51.74.

In the men’s long jump, Jamaican Damar Forbes finished fourth with 7.70m. American Marquis Dendy won the event with 8.21m.

Deon Lendore of Trinidad and Tobago ran 46.06 to edge out Jamaican Christopher Taylor, 46.09 in heat two of the men’s 400m. The event winner, however, was Michael Cherry of the USA with 45.24.

American Fred Kerley did not start.

In the B section of the 400m, American Trevor Bassitt came out with 45.27, a career-best.

American Sandi Morris cleared 4.88m in the women’s pole vault for a new world lead and stadium record.

Vashti Cunningham, also of the USA, was also in record-breaking form. She cleared 2.00m for a new personal best and stadium record.
