Kingston College’s (KC) Jhevaughn Matherson was the top quarter-miler at Saturday’s (Jan 28) Queens Grace Jackson Invitational meet at the National Stadium.

Matherson, renowned for the 100 and 200 sprints, has been showing good 400m form this season. Today he led from start to finish to take the Class 1 one-lap event in 48.56.

Dashawn Morris, also of KC, was second overall in 48.68.

Shemar Davis of St. Jago won the Class 2 boys’ 400m dash in 50.25 while Tajay Gardener of Munro College was the top Class 3 boy in 52.90.

Sanique Walker of Vere Tech topped the Class 2 girls’ 400m, led from start to finish to cross the line in 55.52 while Dorian Nelson of Excelsior took Class 3 in 57.0 (handtime).

Alesha Kelly of St. Jago was the Class 1 girls’ winner in 54.60. Holmwood Tech’s Nicolee Foster, who was also a heat winner, finished second overall in 54.92.

Terrol Wilson of KC took the Under-18 boys’ triple jump with 14.60m while Tissanna Hickling of St. Jago won the Under-20 event with 12.90m.
