Joella Lloyd sets two new Antigua national junior records

VIRGINIA, USA – University of Tennessee Freshman Joella Lloyd, has, for the second time in one week, broken the Antigua and Barbuda Junior Record (NJR) in the 60m at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA.

En route to the record, Lloyd ran a pedestrian 7.54s to win heat four comfortably. In the finals, she blazed to the NJR of 7.34, lowering the record she set less than seven days ago (7.41).

Lloyd was beaten by a former teammate, now professional, Maia McCoy (7.31).

She will look to run the 200m today, 18 January, as well as a leg of her school’s 4×400 relay team.

Meanwhile, former Vere standout Andrenette Knight, representing the host school, ran 1:13.81 for third in the women’s 500m. Nikki Scherer won the event in 1:12.59
