There will be a new venue for the 2018 St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) Club Championships.

In a release on Wednesday (16 May), the SKNAAA informed: “All athletic clubs and fans of track and field in St. Kitts and Nevis are hereby informed that the 2018 Club Championships will be hosted in Nevis on Sunday 27 May.”

According to the release, “the championships will be held at the new Nevis Athletic Stadium and all are invited to witness this historic national athletic event being hosted in Nevis for the first time.”

Start time for the championships is 1:00 pm.

Hodge, Bridgewater headline sprints at St. Kitts and Nevis Club Championships 2017

At the 2017 Championships, results shown, Virgil Hodge taking the girls’ 100m open in 12.13 and Alkronus Bridgewater, the boys’ event in 10.84.

Kim Collins, the Paris 2003 world 100m champion, is St. Kitts and Nevis’ greatest athlete. He won five World Championships medals overall.

Collins also won two 60m dash silver medals at the World Indoor Championships in 2003 and 2008. He is the 2002 Commonwealth Games champion.

The 43-year-old sprinter is set to retire this year after an illustrious career, which started with his first medal for the Americas back in 1995 at the Carifta Games
