Clemson's Kiara Grant impresses at Red Raider Open

Kiara Grant made a strong showing at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational Meet in Florida on Saturday (15 April), taking first place in the women’s 100m Olympic Development race with a time of 10.99 seconds.

Running unattached, Grant was assisted by a tailwind of +1.6 m/s. Celia Barnes, representing Adidas, came in second with a time of 11.05 seconds, followed by Maia McCoy, also running unattached, in third place with a time of 11.08 seconds.

Tobi Amusan, representing Adidas, finished fourth with a time of 11.10 seconds, while Murielle Aboure-Demps, another Adidas athlete, finished fifth with a time of 11.12 seconds and a tailwind of +2.9 m/s.

All of the athletes delivered impressive performances in what was a highly-anticipated race, but it was Grant who ultimately emerged victorious with the top time. As the Olympic Games draw nearer, all eyes will be on these talented athletes.

In the Olympic Development men’s 400m race, Jereem Richards, representing Adidas took first place with an impressive time of 44.68 seconds. Alonzo Russell from the Bahamas came in second place with a time of 44.73 seconds, while Noah Williams representing Adidas, finished third with a time of 45.22 seconds.

Trevor Bassit running unattached took fourth place with a time of 45.25 seconds, followed by Trevor Stewart representing Tumbleweed Track Club, in fifth place with a time of 45.28 seconds. Quincy Hall representing Adidas, came in sixth place with a time of 45.30 seconds.

It was a highly competitive race with impressive performances from all of the athletes, but it was Richards who ultimately emerged victorious with the top time.
