Kimone Shaw, Nathaniel Bann, Schellece Clark, Kiara Grant and Warren Barrett were just some of the big names turned out at Saturday’s Purewater/JC Development Track and Field Meet, held on the School’s ground, Old Hope Road in Kingston.

Bann, who struggled with injuries last year, won his Class 1 boys 800m in 2:04.15, but was 10th overall.
After the race, Bann said, “I’m just happy I came out here and did well.”

The event winner was Rojay Granston of Holmwood with 2:00.20. Kristoff Darby of KC was second in 2:00.39.

Clark of Edwin Allen crossed the finish line in 12.03 for top honours in the girls Class 2 100m.  Shaw of St. Jago, in heat 9, slowed cross the line in 12.52 behind Amoy Brown of Vere (12.15).

Britany Anderson of Vere won the Class 3 girls 100m in 11.88 while heat seven winner Grant of Alpha was second overall with 11.99.

Shanta Deer of Holmwood topped the Class 1 field in 11.86. Patrice Moody of Edwin Allen 11.88 and Rushelle Burton of Camperdown 11.99 were second and third respectively.

Aneka Brissett, formerly of St. Catherine, now at St. Jago ran 12.27 for 9th.

Bethany Bridge of Edwin Allen 11.99 was the only one under 12sec in the Class 4 girls 100m.

In the boys 100m, Rahyme Christian of Clarendon College won Class 3 in 11.46; Chislon Gordon of JC topped Class 2 in 10.92 while Delano Dunkley of Manchester ran away with Class 1 in 10.82.

Warren Barrett of Calabar threw a record 19.40m to win the Class 1 boys shot put ahead of JC’s Vashon McCarthy 17.27m

F4ormer Edwin Allen girl Janell Fullerton, now at St. Jago recorded 47.54m in the Class 1 girls’ discus.

UWI’s Mona trio of Traves Smikle 61.11m, Fedrick Dacres 60.86m and Basil Bingham 54.82m competed in the men’s discus throw event.
