Jamaica’s World U20 110m hurdles champion Damion Thomas won his event, but it was American Kendra “Keni” Harrison that left the most significant mark on Saturday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Harrison launched her season with an impressive 7.81s, the fastest time in the world this year, to win the women’s 60m hurdles. The defending World indoor champion, Harrison, despite hitting hard two barriers, comfortably beat Tobi Amusan of Nigeria.

Amusan’s personal best time, 7.87s, was the 2nd fastest time ever run by an African.

Thomas’s victory came in the men’s 60m hurdles where he ran 7.70s to beat his LSU teammate Eric Edwards Jr., 7.72s.

Sean Bailey, O’Brien Wasome and Stacey-Ann Williams were other Jamaicans at the meet.

Bailey of Utep was third in the men’s 400m dash. Isaiah Jewett of USC won the event in 46.19.

Wasome of Texas ran 6.85 in the men’s 60m, won by Eric Allen Jr. of USC, 6.69.

Williams ran 53.40 for fourth in the women’s 400m. Her teammate Kennedy Simon topped the event in 52.70.
