Jamaicans enjoyed fairly good outings at the weekend’s (31-Jan to 1-Feb) Jack Johnson Classic held at Minneapolis, MN.
Jamaican Dashinelle Dyer, representing Iowa Central CC, won the men’s 60m dash in 6.81s. Kion Benjamin of Minnesota took the runner-up spot in 6.85.
Kevin Nedrick of Minnesota was seventh in the men’s shot put with 18.07m. Payton Otterdahl, the 2019 NCAA champion, with 21.01m.
In the women’s shot put, Jamaican Davia Brown, representing Georgia Ellenwood (can) 4.216p, was third with a throw of 15.87m.
Akealy Moton threw 17.12m to beat Shelby Gunnells, 16.78 for the top spot.
Nayoka Clunis’ 20.98m throw gave her third in the women’s weight throw event, won by Maddy Nilles 22.06 ahead of Lara Boman 21.76. Clunis, Minnesota’s senior, was also fourth in the shot put with 15.75
Former STATHS standout, Ayesha Champagne, picked up 4,091 points in the pentathlon (8.44 in 60mH; 1.67 HJ; 14.14 SP; 5.60 LJ; 2.28.53 800m).
Canadian Georgia Ellenwood won the event with 4,216.
