Britannia Johnson and Britannie Johnson, both Jamaican athletes, claimed the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the U20 girls’ shot put event at the 50th Carifta Games at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.

Britannia Johnson took home the gold medal with a throw of 14.54m (47′ 8.5″), while Britannie Johnson secured the silver medal with a throw of 13.74m (45′ 1″). St. Lucia’s Joy Edward won the bronze medal with a throw of 13.53m (44′ 4.75″).

The U20 boys’ long jump was won by Andrew Stone, representing the Cayman Islands, with an impressive jump of 7.54m (24′ 8.75″). Jamaican athlete Demario Prince finished in second place with a jump of 7.44m (24′ 5″), and Bahamian Mateo Smith also made it onto the podium, taking home the bronze medal with a jump of 7.44m (24′ 5″).

In the U20 girls’ javelin event, the gold medal was won by Guyanese athlete Anisha Gibbons with a throw of 47.96m (157′ 4″). Korann Colet of French Guiana finished in second place with a throw of 45.32m (148′ 8″), while Vanessa Sawyer, representing the Bahamas, secured the bronze medal with a throw of 43.37m (142′ 3″).

Overall, the athletes put on a fantastic display of skill and determination, making it a successful day for everyone involved at the 50th Carifta Games.
