A Jamaican track and field athlete has tested positive for a prohibited substance.

According to reports reaching Trackalerts.com, the athlete finished in the top three at Jamaica Trials and would guarantee a place on the country’s team to the Doha 2019 World Championships.

Unconfirmed reports are that the athlete, who cannot be named until the outcome of the B sample, has already been notified of the positive test.

The athlete could face the possibility of a four-year ban from the sport if found guilty.

According to JADCO’s website, “Presence of a prohibited substance (or its metabolites or markers) in an athlete’s sample” is an Anti-Doping Rule Violation.

Last week it was reported that American sprinter Christian Coleman missed three out of competition tests. He will have his hearing on September 4.
