Natoya Goule broke two minutes for the fourth time this season. She ran 1:58.59 today (24 Aug) for second at the Paris Diamond League Meeting.
Goule was only second-best on the day to American Hanna Green, who won in 1:58.39.
Winnie Nanyondo (UGA) finished second in 1:58.83.
“We went out quick which I was worried about, but I tried not to freak out,” said Green.
Pacemaker Chanelle Price, also of the US, took out through the first lap at 55.62. Raevyn Rodgers, the other American, who was timed at 1:26.56, led at the 600m mark.
Green said he remained “patient and worked my way up.”
“I felt really good, and I still think I have a little more to work on to get ready for Worlds,” she explained.
Ronald Levy, 13.22, finished fourth in the men’s 110m hurdles while Michael O’Hara did not finish the B race.
Daniel Roberts of USA won the men’s high hurdles in 13.08 ahead of Orlando Ortega of Spain, 13.14.
“I hit a couple of hurdles but other than that it was a good, clean race. In Doha, my aim will be the gold, that’s always the goal, no tying, nothing else, go out and try to get first place,” said Daniel.
Meanwhile, American Noah Lyles topped the men’s 200m, running 19.65 to destroy Ramil Guliyev of Turkey 20.01 and Canadian Aaron Brown 20.13.
“I’m coming off a loaded week in training, so that gives me a lot of confidence. It felt fast. I blinked and all of a sudden the race was over,” commented Lyles.
