Justin Gatlin could win GOLD in absence of Christian Coleman in Doha 2019

Justin Gatlin will return to training within the week according to his manager Renaldo Nehemiah.

Gatlin, who pulled up during his last race earlier this week in Zagreb, passed medical tests for a possible hamstring injury, according to a Reuters report.

“He said he started to feel something grabbing, so he immediately tried to protect against any potential injury occurring,” said Nehemiah.

Gatlin’s toughest challenge will be American Christian Coleman and Jamaica Trials winner Yohan Blake. Blake won the 2011 world title in Daegu.

Meanwhile, Drew Hunter has withdrawn from USA’s team for the World Championships (5000 m) due to a foot injury.

He had gone into the trial event with the injury and finished fifth to secure his place ultimately, but the issue grew worse.
