Athens 2004 Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin believes Usain Bolt will be Rio.

Two-time defending Olympic sprint double champion Usain Bolt pulled out of the Jamaica national championships with a hamstring injury on Friday.

At the US Olympic Trials, Gatlin was asked about Bolt.

On the news of Usain Bolt withdrawing from the Jamaican Olympic Trials with an injury:

“It is an Olympic year and crazy stuff happens. He is Usain, so we’re going to see his face in Rio one way or another. When you command a certain power in track and field, sometimes you get to exercise it,” said Gatlin.

“He is injured and he has a medical pass. That is what his country does. Our country doesn’t do that. You have to come to the line, come ready and if you are not ready that day then you’re not on that boat to get to the next destination which is the Olympic Games.”

  1. Why Rodgers and Gatlin dont mind their business and stay out of our Jamaican situation. Are they all so hungry for a medal. Lets just sit back ans await the outcome. Bolt Bolt all the way. In the name of the Farher Son and Holy Ghost. We claim it. Me gone for now. .

  2. No Marlon he is just stating the facts and comparing the countries rules. Unlike Rodgers who made a fool of himself with his idiotic response when he was asked the same question.

  3. Typical black man fighting against another black man. This is why Black Americans are treated like second class citizens in their own country. They have no strength for others only know how to trash talk their own black family. So what if Bolt do no go to Rio, who can steal his shine in one olympic. Who can erase what the man has already done. He has nothing to prove, everyone else are busy trying to gain fame from just being in the same race as him,

  4. Bolt will be in Rio, but it’s not Gatlin he needs to fear, it is his countryman, Blake. I think Blake will win the 100 and 200 with or without Bolt in both finals. He will peak just in time for Rio.

  5. I think it is fair comment/response from Gatlin. The bigger issue is how will the Jamaican sprinters who are omitted from the team to make way for Bolt after missing the trials.

  7. Boy Gatlin back the fuck up when u talking about the legendary Using Bolt. Get u drugs act together and leave our hero and our noble island out if you don’t have anything good to say. Yes he will be there and he will wip your ass with flying records infront of the flipping world. I love u Usain!!!! Jamaica to the flipping world

  8. dude why didnt you decline the question if you dont know whats to say if a person is not fit to completed why should he ran this is human health your health come before anything else and for your comment your wrong the country has no place in the answer that you gave.

  9. Why is this even in discussion? Everyone has an opionion. Jamaican has rules so does the USA. Gatlin talking about the rules of his country vs the rules of Jamaica might make him seem weak. Bolt has the second fastest time this year and we know he can run fast but he’s only human. Similarly Gatlin is not a slow poke either he too can run fast and he might not make it at his US trials – again anything can happen as the young guys want a spot. Come Rio the best man on that day will win . Also, people on here take this thing too seriously- really!!
