Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce turned the tables on Olympic Games champion Elaine Thompson-Herah in Lausanne

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has not yet decided if she will take her place in the Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League women’s 100m final on Thursday (9 Sept).

Tokyo 2020 100m silver medal winner Fraser-Pryce qualified for the shorter sprint final base on points accumulated over the series. She ran 10.60, a personal best, to win in Lausanne and 10.84 for a similar result in Doha. She finished second to Elaine Thompson-Herah in Eugene and was fourth in Gateshead.

“Shelly-Ann is to decide whether or not she will compete at the Zurich DL,” said our source.

The organizers have kept a lane open for Fraser-Pryce as only seven of the eight finalists have been provisionally listed.

Thompson-Herah headlines the women’s 100m field.

Based on her performances this season, Tokyo 2020 sprint double champion Thompson-Herah should have things easy against Marie-Josée Ta Lou, Dina Asher-Smith, Javianne Oliver and company.

Meanwhile, Olympic Games 100m bronze medallist Shericka Jackson, who qualified for both sprints, has chosen the 200m.

The women’s 100m and 200m finals are one hour and 14 minutes apart, which according to our sources, was the deciding factor.

“Shericka will only do one event, the 200m instead of doubling,” the source confirmed.

In the women’s 200m, Jackson will go up against Namibia’s pair of Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, Dina Asher-Smith and Marie-Josée Ta Lou.

    • Colin Ankle not true that was years ago….it is now winner of the Zurich DL final that takes all. Shelly has a wild card already to the 2022 WC hence her reason she has not confirmed she will be participating.I think her winning her 5th 100m WC title means more.Sport has a lot to do with psychology advantage….she beat Elaine last time out.I don’t think she plans to give up that psychological advantage she now has over Elaine.
