Track and field queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is expected to launch her Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games champaign on Saturday.
Fraser-Pryce, who won a record four world 100m titles, is set to run a special women’s 60m at the Milo Western Relays, set for GC Foster College in Spanish Town.
Shauna Helps and Jodean Williams are also expected to be in the field.
Jamaica’s most successful female sprinter won four world titles, Berlin 2009, Moscow 2013, Beijing 2015 and Doha 2019. She also won back-to-back Olympic Games 100m titles in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Rio 2016 brought bronze.
The meet will also act as a warmup for the Muller Indoor Grand Prix Glasgow set for 15 February. She will face World Indoor 60m champion Murielle Ahoure in the women’s 60m.
Fraser-Pryce has a personal best over 60m of 6.98, the eighth-fastest time in history. The time gave her gold at the World Indoor Championships, Sopot 2014.
Meanwhile, Asafa Powell, who opened his season at the New Balance Boston Indoor Grand Prix on 25 January, will run the men’s 60m dash.
Powell finished fifth in Boston with 6.71 in the men’s 60m won by Deme Kemp 6.50.
World long jump champion Tajay Gayle, Michael Bentley and Michael Campbell will join Powell in the men’s 60m.

If Shelly manages be won Tokyo and go sub 10.67 (Carmelita Jeter’s fastest time with out a tail wind) then that would solidify her as the GOAT.

Right now Shelly is arguably the world’s best sprinter, and if she wins in Toyko, she will undoubtedly be the greatest the world has ever seen.
Remember Shelly wasn’t 100% in Rio 2016, missed London 2017 because of giving birth, returned to beat the world in Doha 2019… Two-time Olympic 100m champion, World sprint double in 2013…no one can beat that.
If Shelly wins the 100m in Tokyo this season , will she be considered the greatest Caribbean Women athlete of all time?
