Javon Francis and Janieve Russell were winners at Saturday’s (April 9) Stadium East held Seniors Link Up meet in Kingston.

Javon Francis topped the men’s 400m in 46.39 ahead of MVP’s Jonia McDonald 46.48 and UTech’s Twayne Crooks 46.52

Janieve Russell, fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles at last year’s World Championships in Beijing, was the top female quarter miler on the day with 51.79.

Tjipekapora Herunga of Namibia 52.03, MVP’s Jody-Ann Muir 53.00 and Danielle Dowie 53.03 and Sprintec’s Ristananna Tracey 53.78 completed the top five.

Rhonda Whyte won the women’s hand-time 400m hurdles in 56.1 ahead of Carifta Games Under-20 champion Shannon Kalawan of Edwin Allen 56.3, MVP’s Sparkle McKnight (Trinidad and Tobago) 56.6 and Nikita Tracey 57.3

UTech’s Marvin Williams, who pulled out of the final at last weekend’s NCB/InterCol Championships, topped the men’s event in 51.88 ahead of Dwayne Extol of Eagles Track 52.27 and MVP’s Andre Peart 52.41.

In the field, Tajay Gayle of UTech won the long jump with 7.25m; JC’s Vashon McCarthy took the men’s shot put with 16.56m and Orlando Thomas, also of UTech, the men’s javelin with 64.39m.

Genneva Greaves of UTech was the best in the women’s shot put with 14.37 and Olivia Leckford, the women’s javelin winner with 43.96m.
