Mario Forsythe was a second place finisher in the men’s 200m at the  IAAF Melbourne World Challenge on Saturday (22 March). He ran 21.17 behind Jarrod Geddes of Australia 21.10 in the men’s 200m and earlier 10.60 for 5th in the 100m, won by Tom Gamble, also of Australia, 10.41.

LaShawn Merritt, the world 400m champion, won his event in 46.32 ahead of Asutalian John Steffensen 47.18. 

Australian superstar Sally Pearson came up victors twice on the night, hurdles in 12.83 (-0.2) and flat 100m in 11.34 (+1.0) over record holder Melissa Breen 11.45 and US quarter-miler Natasha Hastings 11.51. Hastings won the 200m in 23.35, +0.1m/s wind.

Other notable winners were David Oliver, the 110m hurdles 13.57 (0.0), Eunice Sum the 800m 2:02.99 and Valerie Adams shot put 19.68m.
