Former IAAF President Lamine Diack has been sentenced to prison and fined €500,000 after being found guilty of corruption.

The 87-year-old faced corruption and money-laundering charges linked to the Russian doping scandal during his time as IAAF President.

He was sentenced to four years in prison, two of them suspended.

The judge said his actions had “undermined the values of athletics and the fight against doping.”

His son Papa Massata, who refuses to be extradited from Senegal, was convicted and jailed for five years in absentia.

All four other defendants Gabriel Dollé, Habib Cisse, Valentin Balakhnichev and Alexei Melnikov, were also found guilty.
