Elaine Thompson-Herah has finally confirmed her departure from MVP Track Club and coach Stephen Francis.

Thompson-Herah, the same day news broke that she advised MVP in a letter she was leaving, labelled the report as “rumours.”

On Monday (18 Oct), the day she was conferred with the Order of Distinction in Commander Class (CD) rank, Thompson-Herah confirmed her MVP departure.

“I want to assure everyone that I have begun my training independently and will continue to do so while I finalise all aspects of my team for the upcoming season,” Thompson Herah said.

“I want to thank everyone for their support and express appreciation to those who have reached out in concern,” added Thompson-Herah.

She continued: “I remain committed to representing my country and to lead with courage and grace as I am aware that I inspire young women across the world who have dreams and who dare to see those dreams come to pass.”

Francis guided Thompson-Herah to back-to-back sprints double titles in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She also won silver in her breakthrough year of 2015 at the Beijing World Championships.

  1. Ok I understand that she left MVP but if you know you were leaving how can you not have your team in place if you are on the verge breaking world record winning another double gold in three years how can you not have these things in place I’m concerned but maybe she doesn’t have those as goal she already very accomplished and is satisfied with what she already achieved
