Elaine Thompson-Herah and Sha’Carri Richardson are down to contest the women’s 200m at this Friday’s (3 Sept) Brussels Diamond League. It will be Thompson-Herah’s first 200m race since winning the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games event earlier this month.

Thompson-Herah ran three 100m races in the last three weeks, winning at the Prefontaine Classic 10.54 and Paris 10.74. She, however, lost to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, 10.60 to 10.64 in Lausanne.

Shericka Jackson and Dina Asher-Smith in 200m

Jamaican Shericka Jackson, American Sha’Carri Richardson and world champion Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain will join Thompson-Herah on the start line.

In her last outing, Asher-Smith ran 22.19 (+2.4m/s wind) for third at the Prefontaine Classic on 21 Aug.

Jackson has not run a 200m race since her exit in the first round at the Tokyo 2020 games.
Richardson missed the Olympic Games because of a ban. She was humiliated over 100m at Prefontaine on her return.

Jaheel Hyde will line up against new world record holder Karsten Warholm in 400m hurdles.

Americans Trayvon Bromell and Fred Kerley will be the athletes to look out for in the Men’s 100m at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, the second to last leg of the Wanda Diamond League meetings.

  1. All Amazing Strong Fast runners. It’s all about the preparation and delivery that day. Anyone can be a Winner out of the 3 but the jamaican team has shown to be prepared for this moment yet I would like to see a comeback from the young American girl

  2. Richardson need a new team. To me she came back to early I feel she should of stayed out the Remaining of the year and condition. And please find her a publicist 🤣 but anyway #teamwomen first 2nd or last they all doing the dam thing 😊

  3. Sometimes You just want to know if some of these people don’t think before the put their thoughts out. People you have to be invited to these meets before you can participate, and it’s up to you if you want to take up the offer. Those organizations don’t look how rested or fatigued you are ,it is up to you to make that decision if you want to run or not.

    • Elise Park not so. The sponsors of the athletes dictate when they will run or show up, the athletes have no say. If they pull out. The have to cite valid reason if they do. This is how they make their money and fulfill their contract with the sponsors. The athletes do not decide.

    • I have the same fight on Facebook. People dont understand that you just dont turn up at the diamond league. The meet organizers have to invite you and you either accept or dont. It’s up to your agent to get you out there. There are some athletes of prominence who share agents with less prominent athlete and they will bargain to get their other charges in the mix

  4. Why would that girl want to go into a race when she see the faster woman them tired wooie this is joke because she knows she can’t win if they are that strong so she is trying to use them weakness against them so she with thinks or believes she is the fastest woman in the world she need to grow up because right now she don’t worth the attention because she has no manners at all better things out there to do ,don’t have any data or wifi to waste on she KMT

  5. Shacarri if I were you I would humble myself and pray to God. That’s not much to ask..you will still not beat my Jamaicans, but you will make it far in life being humble and with God.
