Aaron Brown upset Andre De Grasse in a bonafide photo-finish in Friday’s 100m showdown at the Canadian World Championships, Doha 2019 Trials.

Brown defeated De Grasse by the narrowest of margins, with both sprinters finishing in 10.021 to 10.024. The results were that close it took officials five minutes to officially declare a winner.

The win helped Brown repeat as the fastest man in Canada, as he won the national 100m crown in 2018. De Grasse spent much of the last couple of years recovering from the injury that kept him out of the 2017 World Championships in London.

Both men went sub-10 in the semifinal round (De Grasse-9.98, Brown 9.96 PB).
Bismark Boateng finished third in 10.24.

Crystal Emmanuel won her fourth consecutive women’s 100m title in 11.17 while Leya Buchanan was second in 11.28 and Shaina Harrison, third in 11.45.

The Women’s Shot put saw Brittaney Crew throw a championship record of 18.65m to beat Sarah Mitton (17.37m) and Grace Tennant (14.71m). Christabel Netty took home gold in the women’s Long Jump at 6.41m, beating Baileh Simm (6.31m) and Sandra Latrace (6.13m)
