The Supreme Ventures sponsored Jamaica National Senior Championships was all one big misunderstanding and the JAAA has come out and cleared it all up. For that, we say THANK YOU! Thank you for letting us know who will be on the Rio team…or NAH!

JAAA took 2 weeks after the track and field trials to announce their Olympic team of athletes and officials. Fans waited anxiously to see if their favorite athlete made the team. Alas, the list is out, athletes breathe a sigh of relief while others the agony is driven home…but then there is the surprise and shock that Jason “Dadz”
Morgan was not selected.

So whats the big deal? “Dadz nah throw anything!” Hear me out though, if Dadz is not listed , why is Kemoy Campbell listed? If Nathan Allen is listed for the 400, why Dadz not listed? Julian Forte is listed, why Dadz not listed. Even on the girls side, with all this going on why Danielle Williams not listed? There are so many whys to ask, but really JAAA, why so many reserves when you have a man who has the qualifying mark and finished 4th and there is only one person ahead of him who has the qualifying mark? If you say it’s because he can’t place, then why Kemoy Campbell listed?

Campbell, this is not about you per se, but here is the hard fact. Campbell is not ranked on the top 132 spots per iaaf.org. Jason Morgan is ranked top 60 and has the qualifying mark, so why is it only Dacres going for the discus? So if the argument is, because Dadz can’t place, then guess who else might not place? Both athletes earned the qualifying standard in 2015 so what’s new in 2016. Dadz is actually ranked 2nd on the list of qualifiers during the qualifying period.

This is what happens when we do not have a fair and transparent system. Because you see, you list umpteen athletes for events that they WILL NOT RUN, and made it public, so poor mommy and daddy is set to mortgage the house to get a hotel and plane ticket to go watch their child perform, but last minute you going to say sorry…it was just a list. Expedia not giving back their money.

Anyhow, I think I have created the JAAA Rio Selection Flowchart. Hopefully, we will all understand the system that many have come out to say works, because we not trying to be like the dreaded Hamericahns! and so saith the gospel according to the JAAA.

  1. The point could have been made without using Kemoy Campbell as the scapegoat. I am sure if Kemoy had been a past student of the same school the writer went he would not have been used as an example. I too agree that there exist inconsistencies at the very least but demeaning someone else’s accomplishment to prove ones point is not right.

  2. You seriously need to try making your point without trying to throw down another athelete. Your article is pure bs. Kemoy ran and WON his race, fair and square. Let’s re-check your facts.

  3. Dad deserves to go. JAAA Dadz has a lot to offer the team. Especially in terms of experience and support for Dacres. This is an opportunity for JAAA To show that it cares about the development of it’s athletes, yet they dem ready to “drop the ball” so to speak, in this case. It seems as though they are saying that Dadz is a waste of time and not worth putting any effort into. This is terrible presidence, being set. JAAA should not treat it’s athletes this way.
