Michali Everett and Tina Clayton stamped their class on the 100m at Saturday’s Puma/Grace Youngster Goldsmith Classic at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Jamaica College’s (JC) Everett topped the Class 1 boys’ 100m in a meet record 10.49s, beating the previous of 10.52.

Kingston College’s (KC) Wayne Pinnock, who was second to Everett in 10.55s, left his mark on the 110m hurdles. Pinnock stopped the clock in 13.09 in the heats of the Class 1 boys’ 110m hurdles. He beat his previous record of 13.46 set in 2019. He along with Vashaun Vascianna, who ran 13.79 to win his heat, skipped the final.

Edwin Allen’s Tina Clayton ran a record 11.62 to beat her teammate Brandy Hall’s 2019 mark of 11.71. Tina’s twin sister Tia, who won her heat, was second overall in 11.79s.

Also of Edwin Allen, Serena Cole, 11.90 and Hall, who won her heat in 11.93, rounded off the top four.

KC’s Ra’John Gray smashed the Class 3 boys’ 100m hurdles record by running 13.12 in the final. He beat the previous mark of 13.16, set in 2019.

Lashanna Graham of Edwin Allen set a new record, 57.36s, to take top honours in the girls’ open 400m hurdles. Graham, who ran 59.42s, was the only athlete on the day to run sub-1-minute.

Rayon Campbell (KC) set a new Class 1 boys’ 400m hurdles record of 52.32s but returned with 57.27 to finish fifth in the final. Dean Clarke of Calabar, ran 52.64 to take the top spot ahead of KC’s Shanthamoi Brown, 52.74, in the final.

Chad Wright with 59.54m set a new record in the men’s discus throw. The previous record was 43.82m.

Shantae Foreman of St. Jago cleared 1.81m for a new Class 2 girls’ high jump record. The previous mark was 1.70m.

Charehon Connally of Maggotty took the Class 3 boys’ 1500m in an impressive 4:01.30. He lowered the record of 4:27.49 ahead Rojay Thomas, 4:37.20.

Crystal Morrison of St. Jago ran 14.38 to win the Class 1 girls’ 100m hurdles event while Aleix James of Petersfield topped Class 2 in 14.05.

Shanquena Foote of Petersfield won the Class 1 girls’ 400m in 55.08.

JC’s Handal Roban set a new record, 1:54.37 in the 800m invitational. The previous mark was 1:54.91.

Samantha Hall, 50.64m, Avery Pryce of Mico, 42.67m, Tavia Dixon of Mico, 40.92 and Daniela Williams of Clarendon College, 38.80m, all beat the previous women’s discus throw record of 38.14m.

Orlando Thomas threw 67.37m in the men’s javelin and Jewel Collins of St. Jago 50.75m in the girls’ javelin open, were also record breakers.

  1. Edwin Allen have a very powerful class two sprint team…any of five girls can win.
    It’s going to be hard to beat the Clayton twins? But Hall, Cole and Miles…wow, only two can run.

    Now it begs the question, why one school have five people in the same class that can win the 100 and 200

  2. Big up the youth from Maggotty, 4:01.30 is a big time for a Class 3 boy. I just hope he will stay at Maggotty and help lift his school, but again u just can’t trust the BIG 3
