Chrisann Gordon wins at LSU Alumni Gold

Jamaicans Chris-Ann Gordon and Charokee Young won the 400m races at Saturday’s (24 April) LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Gordon ran 50.84 to beat Maggie Barrie of Sierra Leone, 51.92 in the Olympic Development women’s 400m.
Young produced a personal best 51.49 to take the college event. Nigerian U20 Favour Ofili finished second in a personal best of 51.49.

Jamaican Ackera Nugent won heat two of the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.87 (+0.9m/s wind). The time is the 9th best U20 mark of all time.

Tonea Marshall 12.53 (+2.6m/s) ran the fast 100m hurdles time of the day to beat long jump sensation Tara Davis 12.61.

Williams, Deadmon and Duplantis with world leads

Noah Williams 44.30m in the 400m ahead of Bryce Deadmon 44.58 PB. Another one in long jump 8.44m (+0.8m/s) by JuVaughn Harrison and third by World pole vault record-holder Mondo Duplantis 5.90m in season opener (one attempt at six meters).

American 200m World leader Terrance Laird clocked windy 19.82 (+2.4m/s) to beat Micaiah Harris 20.08.

In the open 200m, Andrew Hudson 20.29 (+1.7m/s) beat 400m runner Vernon Norwood 20.30. Hudson won the 100m in 10.17 and Norwood the 400m in 45.17.

Robert Dunning, in 13.28 PB (+1.9m/s), beat Jamaican Damion Thomas 13.37.

Sean Burrell improved in the 400m hurdles to 49.12. Canada clocked 38.49 in the 4x100m to beat LSU 38.58.

In women 100m, Aleia Hobbs went 10.91 (+0.7) over Tamara Clark 10.96 and Mikiah Brisco with Symone Mason, both 11.02.

Deborah Acquah improved Ghana’s long jump record to 6.81 (+1.6m/s), and Kylee Carter improved in the javelin to 60.69m.

LSU won the 4x100m in 42.70 but lost in the 4x400m to Texas AM 3:27.16 with Athing Mu anchor leg timed at 49.87. LSU’s time was 3:29.01.
