After the Saturday morning preliminary round outing, the former Vere Technical High athlete, is eyeing a breakthrough in Sunday’s afternoon session final, which will take her to her first podium spot at the senior global level.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, with a mark of 14.21m and boasting a personal best of 14.62, is blessed with a pair of mentors, that has been her strong support and motivation, since high school and at 27 years old, must be on a mission to add to her medal chest and make them a proud couple.

Looking resplendent in her regular curly hair style, she advanced at Rio 2016 with an effort of 14.22m, but will miss her island teammate, Shaneika Thomas, who registered a 14.02m best mark to rank 14th, 6cm shy of what would have carried her through.

Thea Lafond, the girl from the Commonwealth of Dominica, for whom 1995 bronze medallist at the Gothenburg World Champs, Jerome Romaine, started a country culture, could only muster 12.82m and finished at the bottom of the pack.

With four World Championships appearances in Berlin, Daegu, Moscow and Beijing plus the London Games, already stashed, Williams is sure to crave a medal this time around. The road will be rough, but one can be sure, that she will be fighting all the way from Start to Finish. Pun intended.
