Jamaica’s most decorated track and field athlete, Veronica Campbell-Brown, has received the People Profile Lifetime Achievement Award.

VCB, as she affectionately called, was presented with the award at a black-tie gala at the Sunrise Civic Centre in Sunrise, Florida, on Sunday (5 Sept).

“Thank you, People Profile and Allan Cunningham (founder of the People Profile). I am humbled by this recognition, more so given the nobility and duty to care associated with the People Profile organization,” Campbell-Brown said on social media.

As a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Vere Technical alumnus joins the likes of Jamaicans Oliver Samuels and Leonie Forbes, who previously won the award.

Caribbean National Weekly quoted the founder of the awards, Dr Allan Cunningham, saying, “Veronica as a retired and highly successful athlete was the most fitting choice. The entire board of the People Profile Organization felt that awarding her was the best decision.”

People Profile is a nonprofit organization that acknowledges ordinary people’s contributions who have overcome extraordinary obstacles & challenges in their lives.

Campbell-Brown, who announced her retirement in June, is Jamaica’s most successful female sprinter of all time, winning 43 medals in her country’s colours.
