Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jamaica’s most decorated female athlete, is expecting her first child.

Campbell-Brown, the winner of the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games 200m titles, announced her pregnancy on social media on Tuesday (8 Jan).

“Our lives will soon change forever, #BabyComingSoon @omarobrown,” the 36-year-old shared on her Instagram page.

“We look forward to parenthood and all the joys and challenges that come with it. We pray for strength and wisdom to be the best parents possible.

“At this moment, I am uncertain if I will return to competition, as the main focus is to welcome our bab, and to provide the best environment filled with love, warmth, and care.”

Campbell-Brown won eight Olympic Games medals, three gold, three silver and two bronze. She also won 11 World Championships medals, including 100m title in Osaka 2007 and 200m gold in Daegu 2011.

She was the 1999 World Junior sprint double champion. Overall she won 27 gold, 18 silver and four bronze medals for Jamaica.

She holds personal bests of 10.76 seconds for the 100m and 21.74 seconds for the 200m.
