Andrew Fisher and Kemarley Brown seem set to represent Bahrain at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. According to the latest IAAF newsletter, published July 28, both MVP athletes are eligible to represent the Middle East country by August 10. Fisher will be able to wear the colours on August 9 with Brown a day later.
Track and Field at the Games opens on August 12.
Fisher, the 14th Jamaican to break the 10 seconds barrier, ran a personal best of 9.94 in Madrid on July 11.
Brown, another sub-10 man at 9.93, recently returned to Jamaica from college in the USA.
The two won’t be the first Jamaicans to represent Bahrain, as Brandon Simpson, a former Jamaica quarter miler, switched to that country in 2005.
In the last three years, Jacques Harvey switched to Turkey, a country he now represents on the circuit with the name Jak Ali Harvey.
